NBC News on Tuesday ousted former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel, just days after her hiring as a paid political analyst sparked intense backlash from the network’s top television anchors over McDaniel’s role in subverting the 2020 election and attacks on the press.
“There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group,” NBCUniversal News Group President Cesar Conde said in a memo to staff. “After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.”
“I want to personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down,” Conde continued. “While this was a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team, I approved it and take full responsibility for it.”

It was never liberal. Always a facade to hide the Billionaires calling the shots.
It was “liberal” in the European sense of the term, which is actually largely unrelated to how the term is used in US politics.
So in other words, it really was liberal.
No shit. Liberal is centrism. Liberal is not left.
Good riddance. And good job MSNBC News anchors. May the fascists never find a home.
In the wake of Conde’s announcement to sever ties with McDaniel, MSNBC host Joy Reid and Maddow addressed the reversal on the network’s air, praising the move as “bold” and “strong.”
“I think it is a show of strength and a show of respect for the people who work at this company and make us who we are,” Maddow said. “That leadership was willing to change on this, I’m grateful to them.”
So like… yeah, it’s good that their C-suite and board (or whoever else was involved) reversed course when faced with unified resistance, but let’s be honest: they reversed course because all their top anchors essentially gave them an ultimatum.
[MS]NBC leadership did not reverse course on this out of the goodness of their hearts. They reversed course because they realized they stepped on a landmine. I am pretty confident that they’ll continue to try to be more “centrist”, because they want more profit, which demands a bigger marketshare… and Fox is still the biggest game in town (don’t get me started), so they’re gonna try to pull viewers away from Fox (again, don’t get me started on how absolutely dumb that idea is). CNN has been doing it for years, for the record.
Fucker and his ‘leadership team’ should step down
You’re not wrong, and the anchors know that. Thanks for sharing for those wondering, but you don’t snub the nose of the giant after successfully adding a cut. 999 to go.
CNN has been doing it for years
CNN sits more to the center, though, so it’s not a stretch for them.
And maybe it’s okay to be centrist, as long as we avoid whackadoo stuff like “teaching the controversy”, and discuss the more straightforward wrong-headed stuff while avoiding the nutball wrong-headed stuff. Outline how cost-effective services is met through consolidation and results-based goals and not through firing the inspectors and requiring everyone to pay everything separately so fat-cat buddies will send kick-backs in thanks.
Might be because I’m not American but anytime I view it they seem pretty hard to the right
No, CNN has moved to the right. The GQP has moved very far to the right and the “news” networks have followed at a distance (except Fux News who helped push the shift) in order to keep the shareholders happy.
When you hire clowns in your attempt to appear “impartial” to folks that can’t define the word, expect a circus.
It feels like a weird game where they want to see how far they can go.
She’s apparently going to file a hostile work environment lawsuit, but it’s not going to go the way she thinks it will.
NBC will end up proving in court that hiring a fascist creates a hostile work environment, if they don’t just pay her to go away & never speak their name again.
She’ll probably get a nice settlement amounting to the next 5 years they would have paid her.
Good shit fuck the Romneys.
Bye Felicia
It reads like “I will save the day. I’m not going to blame the other people whose fault it is, because it’s not my fault, but I’m going to save the day. Approved. You’re welcome.”
